FAQ#

Is LiveShield a cloud-based or on-premise solution?

LiveShield is a fully on-premise DDoS protection platform, deployed directly within the customer’s infrastructure - in their network, data center, or ISP node.

Traffic is analyzed locally and in real time, without redirecting it to external scrubbing centers. This ensures:

  • full control over traffic and data

  • no additional latency

  • compliance with regulatory and data sovereignty requirements

LiveShield does not require cloud services or permanent traffic redirection to operate. Although it is possible to create such redirection.

Does LiveShield introduce latency to network traffic?

No. LiveShield is designed for environments where every millisecond matters.

Traffic is not tunneled or redirected outside the customer’s infrastructure, and the system can react within a single second after detecting an anomaly or attack. As a result:

  • no permanent latency is introduced

  • legitimate traffic quality is preserved

  • the natural packet path within the network remains unchanged

How does LiveShield scale as traffic grows?

LiveShield scales horizontally, without the need to replace the existing infrastructure.

As traffic increases:

  • additional modules (workers) can be deployed

  • new components join the existing architecture

  • no downtime or data migration is required

This allows protection to grow gradually, in line with real network and business needs.

Can LiveShield be deployed in multiple locations simultaneously?

Yes. LiveShield can operate across multiple locations at the same time, which is especially important for:

  • ISPs with multiple network nodes

  • data centers in different regions

  • organizations handling regional and international traffic

Licensing is based on the total traffic volume and number of active IP addresses, not on the number of installations or locations.

Can LiveShield replace cloud-based DDoS protection?

In many scenarios - yes.

LiveShield:

  • can react within a single second

  • does not require traffic redirection outside the customer’s network

  • provides full control and predictable costs

In more complex environments, LiveShield can also work alongside cloud-based DDoS services, for example as the first line of defense before escalation.

How does LiveShield differ from appliance-based solutions?

Appliance-based solutions rely on:

  • dedicated, closed hardware

  • limited flexibility

  • hardware replacement when traffic grows

LiveShield is a software-based solution that:

  • runs on standard hardware

  • avoids vendor lock-in

  • enables flexible and incremental infrastructure expansion

Who is LiveShield not a good fit for?

LiveShield may not be suitable for organizations that:

  • do not operate their own network infrastructure

  • rely exclusively on public SaaS or cloud services

  • expect “one-click” protection without any technical configuration

LiveShield is best suited for environments where control, performance, and fast network-layer response are critical.

Will LiveShield be extended with new filtering methods?

Yes. LiveShield is actively developed.

Its modular architecture enables:

  • continuous addition of new detection and filtering techniques

  • ongoing improvement of traffic analysis algorithms

  • rapid adaptation to new DDoS attack vectors

New mechanisms are introduced without requiring changes to the customer’s infrastructure.

What is the update policy?

Updates are available to customers with an active license and:

  • are fully controlled by the customer’s administrator

  • can be applied during a planned maintenance window

  • include security fixes, performance optimizations, and new features

How can I order a LiveShield license?

  • number of active IP addresses

What happens after the license expires?

After license expiration:

  • the management panel remains accessible

  • historical data and configuration can still be viewed

  • all filtering and protection functions are disabled

How fast can LiveShield be deployed?
